Things to See & Do on Quadra Island


Quadra Island is loaded with arts, health and recreation activities all year long. Summertime hosts the largest number of events (from May to September) but theatre, music, arts and biking are present all year. The following is a list of the largest and most attended ways to spend time on Quadra. From ‘Grand Prix Zucchini Racing’ (no drivers license required) to the Chamber Music Festival, there is truly something for everyone on Quadra. Events tend to draw large amounts or visitors so make plans and purchase tickets, where necessary, well in advance.

Annual Events


Quadra Island MayDay Celebration – Held the first Saturday after the May long weekend on Rebecca Bay Spit is a huge community event. Join ith the parade, tug of war, greased pole climb, driftwood fort building event, dancing and even a may pole.


Quadra Island Farmer’s Market – May – September on Saturdays 10-2. Food, arts, crafts and live music are presented in the park across Green Road from the Quadra Island Lodge.


Quadra Rocks – Is an active outdoor event in the first of June featuring hikes, climbing, acroyoga, kyaking and many activities .


16th Annual Quadra Island Studio Tour

The first weekend in June. Explore the works of 30 local artists and visit 20 studios on the island. But wait there is more – after June 4th, 14 of the studios will also remain open to the public for the rest of the year!


Quadra Island Quilt & Garden Tour – Only runs every other year (2018 is such a year) at the end of June.


Quadra Island Festival of Chamber Music

Please join us July 18-22, 2017 for the Seventh Annual Quadra Island Festival of Chamber Music, on beautiful Quadra Island, BC.  Our concerts are performed in a variety of special venues scattered around our gorgeous Island. We look forward to seeing you!



This annual weekend long family event takes place at the Quadra Island Community Centre and showcases a huge selection of diverse Canadian artists on multitude of different stages.

This year you can be sure to expect all the live music, painting, characters, puppets, juggling, dancing, crafts, clothes, vendors, food, refreshments and games one could ever hope for in the spectacular setting of the Discovery Islands. No date yet announced for 2017


Quadra Island Fall Fair

Quadra's annual Fall Fair is a lively and creative family friendly event, where community members can showcase their homegrown and creative talents. This event was spearheaded by a high energy, committed group of local volunteers in 2011. It has been a huge success!  There is always plenty of delicious food on hand, fun musical and theatrical events, artisan vendors, farm animals to pet and prizes galore!


Halloween Fun Night

On October 31 the Community Centre organizes a beautiful display of Halloween fireworks in Blenkin Park at 8:30 p.m. as well as (depending the number of volunteers) kids games and a Haunted House in the Main Hall. Thanks to generous donors and some amazing volunteers this years (2016). Fun Night was a blast, we even managed to scare a few people!


Quadra's Christmas Craft Fair

The annual Christmas Craft Fair falls on the third weekend in November and is held at the Community Centre. The Quadra Christmas Crafts Fair is a joyful, warm and inspiring way to kick of the festive season. Beautiful locally handmade arts and crafts abound and there is always something yummy on offer in Kringle's Kitchen. Shoppers can enjoy the quite classy ambiance of an evening shop on Friday and parents can get in their photo op with the kids on Saturday while the little ones ask Santa for their special Christmas wish. What better way to feel good about the start of the busy holiday season than supporting the local economy, getting your shopping done early, all while having a fun, stress free experience meeting local artisans!

The first day of the Fair is Friday Evening from 4:00-9:00 p.m. and the second day is on Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.. Santa arrives by Fire truck at noon (to 2:00 p.m.) on Saturday!

David has been a fishing guide on Quadra Island since 1981. His boat is a 22.5' Aquasport, approved for safety by Transport Canada for 2007.
